Crane & rigging · Ontario
The crane was back in the yard on Tuesday. Where’s the invoice?
cr4nes closes the gap between finishing a lift and getting paid for it. The operator’s ticket prices itself, the office approves it, and the invoice goes out the same day — with every certificate checked before the crew ever left the yard.

The first screen you see every morning: what’s finished, what hasn’t been invoiced, and how long it’s been sitting.
The problem
Nobody loses a crane. They lose the paperwork behind it.
Ask any operator what happens between the crane leaving the yard and the invoice going out. The answer is almost never “same day.”
The ticket rides in the truck
It comes back Friday, gets typed up the following week, and by the time the customer sees it nobody can remember whether the second crane was on site for four hours or six.
The rates get re-done by hand
Minimums, portal-to-portal travel, overtime after eight, the weekend multiplier, the permit you fronted — every one of them is an opportunity to undercharge and never notice.
A certificate quietly expires
You find out when the site supervisor turns your crew around at the gate. That's a day of billing gone and a customer wondering who else you'd send.
One ticket, end to end
From the yard gate to QuickBooks, in one day
This is the whole product in five steps. Nothing gets re-typed, and nothing waits for someone to get back to the office.
- 06:12
Crew clocks out of the yard
The operator starts the ticket on their phone. Portal-to-portal time runs from the yard gate, not from when someone remembers to write it down.
- 07:04
On site, crew and unit logged
Operator, rigger, oiler, signal person — each on their own rate. The crane and any rigging gear are attached to the ticket.
- 15:26
Back in the yard, ticket closed
The rate engine prices it as it closes: minimums, overtime, travel, permits, consumables. No spreadsheet, no second entry.
- 15:31
Office reviews and approves
The office sees the priced ticket in the approval queue, adjusts anything the field couldn't know, and approves.
- Same day
Invoice out, pushed to QuickBooks
A job's tickets roll up into one invoice — a three-day job is one bill, not three — exported to QuickBooks Online. The unbilled pile stops ageing.

What's in it
Everything a crane operation runs on — and nothing it doesn't
Built for the way rental and rigging work is actually billed, not a generic job-management app with “crane” typed into the industry dropdown.

Compliance
Four tiers, and a dispatch board that respects them
Every certificate — operator, rigger, signal person, WHMIS, first aid, crane inspection, CVOR, insurance, COR — sits in one of four states. You get warned at 60 days, again at 30, again at 7.

A status is always a dot and a word. Colour never carries the meaning on its own — which matters when the person reading it is colourblind, or squinting at a phone in the sun.

Dispatch flags an expired ticket while you’re assigning the job — not after the crew has been turned around at the gate. It warns; you still decide.
Honest fit
Who this is for — and who it isn't
A short list of reasons not to buy is cheaper for both of us than a demo that ends in “oh, it doesn't do that.”
Built for you if
- You run roughly 3 to 10 cranes, boom trucks or picker units
- Tickets are still paper, or a photo of paper in a group chat
- Dispatch lives on a whiteboard and one person's memory
- Certification renewals are tracked in a spreadsheet, if at all
- There are days — sometimes weeks — between finishing a job and sending the invoice
Not the right tool if
- You need 3D lift planning and load-chart design (that's Avontus's job, not ours)
- You're a large multi-crew industrial operator already running WrightPlan
- You want scaffolding, shoring or general construction management
- You operate outside Ontario — we'll get there, but not yet
Pricing
Priced per fleet, not per seat

Straight answers
Including the ones about what this doesn't do yet.
How much of my day does setup take?
You can be running tickets the same afternoon. Add your units, your crew and your rates, and you're live. Importing certificate expiry dates in bulk is the one part worth blocking an hour for — and we'll do that pass with you if you'd rather not.
Is there a setup fee?
No, and there won't be. That's the single biggest difference between cr4nes and the enterprise crane software you've been quoted before, where a four-figure implementation fee before you've run a single ticket is normal.
Do my operators need to install anything?
No. The field side runs in a phone browser, so it works on whatever phone the crew already carries — no app store, no IT project. Native iOS and Android apps are in testing for crews that would rather have an icon on the home screen.
Does it do photos and signatures on the ticket?
Not yet — that's the next thing being built, and we'd rather say so than let you find out after you've moved your business across. Until it ships, crews text or email photos the way they do now.
What about QuickBooks?
Approved invoices export one way to QuickBooks Online. Your accountant keeps working exactly the way they do today.
Is my crew's certification data safe?
It's stored in Canada, only your company can see it, and cr4nes never shares it with anyone. Compliance records are yours — you can export them at any time.
